Terms of service

Last updated 27 September 2026

The short version

  • Owecrew helps you work out who owes who. It doesn't move money; you pay each other yourselves.
  • Check the numbers before you pay. Receipt reading is good, but not perfect.
  • The core app is free. Premium is a one-off Trip Pass or a Plus subscription you can cancel anytime.
  • Not happy with a purchase? Email us within 14 days for a refund.

About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Borne Labs Ltd (“we”, “us”) for using owecrew.com and the Owecrew apps. By using Owecrew you agree to them. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your data.

You need to be at least 13 to use Owecrew, and 18 or over to buy Premium.

What Owecrew does (and doesn't do)

Owecrew lets a group (a “crew”) log shared bills, scan receipts, claim what they had, and see who owes who. It's a calculator and a shared record. It isn't a payment service: we don't hold, send or receive money between crew members, and we aren't part of any agreement between you and your friends about paying each other back.

Receipts are read automatically, which can get things wrong: a misread price, a missed item, a service charge counted twice. You're responsible for checking a bill before anyone pays, and we aren't liable for money paid based on a split nobody checked.

Crews and links

  • Anyone with a crew's link or QR code can open it and add to it. Only share it with people you're splitting with.
  • The person who starts a crew is its host, and can delete the crew and everything in it. That can't be undone.
  • You don't need an account. Without one, your crews are remembered on your device, so clearing your browser data can lose your place in them. Open the crew link again to rejoin.

Using Owecrew fairly

Please don't:

  • use Owecrew for anything illegal, or to harass, deceive or defraud anyone;
  • put offensive content or other people's personal details into a crew without good reason;
  • try to access crews you weren't invited to, or break, overload or scrape the service;
  • use automated scripts to scan receipts or call our AI features, or resell access to them.

If someone does, we may remove the content or block their access.

Premium

Premium adds extra features, like the table round, the bill assistant, trip mode and fair-share splits.

  • Trip Pass (£4.99, one-off): Premium for one crew for 14 days. It doesn't renew, and you don't need an account to buy it.
  • Plus (£3.99 a month or £19.99 a year): Premium for every crew you're in, while your subscription is active. It needs an account.

Every crew gets a few free tries of Premium features first. Prices include VAT where it applies. If we change the price of Plus, we'll tell subscribers before their next renewal, and you can cancel before it takes effect.

Payments, renewals and cancelling

Payments are handled by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the seller of record. That means your receipt comes from them, they process your card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, and their buyer terms also apply to the purchase.

Plus renews automatically each month or year until you cancel. You can cancel anytime from your account page, and you'll keep Premium until the end of the period you've paid for.

Refunds

If you're not happy with a purchase, email support@owecrew.com within 14 days of paying (or of a Plus renewal) from the address on your receipt, and we'll refund it in full. After that, we'll still look at any request fairly, for example if Premium didn't work for you.

This doesn't affect your legal rights as a consumer.

Fair use of AI features

Receipt scanning and Premium's AI features have generous limits to stop abuse and keep costs sensible, for example 100 AI requests per crew per day with Premium. Normal use won't come close. If a limit is reached, the feature falls back to its on-device version (for example, your phone reads the receipt itself) rather than stopping.

Availability and changes

We work to keep Owecrew running and your data safe, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free. We may change or improve features. If we ever stop offering Premium or Owecrew itself, we'll give reasonable notice and refund the unused part of any Plus subscription or active Trip Pass.

Our responsibility to you

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't let us limit, and they don't affect your statutory rights.

Otherwise, we aren't responsible for losses that weren't foreseeable, for disagreements between crew members, or for money paid based on a split that wasn't checked. Owecrew is for personal use, and we aren't liable for any business losses. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Ending things

You can stop using Owecrew whenever you like, and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or close access if someone seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms. If that happens to a paying user without good reason, we'll refund the unused part of what they paid.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top, and for significant changes we'll let you know in the app or by email first. If you keep using Owecrew afterwards, the new terms apply.

The law that applies

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you can also bring a claim in your local courts, and you keep any protections your local law gives you.

Questions or complaints? Email support@owecrew.com. We'd much rather sort things out directly.
